i bought the best of linux magazine (linux identity pack volume 5, number 1) recently and enclosed was a dvd with 5 different versions of linux on it: debian 6, fedora 16, linux mint 12, openSUSE 12.1 and ubuntu 11.10.
i put the dvd in my computer and clicked auto play. from the pictures and articles in the magazine, i gathered that it should open a menu. well cmd prompt came up and said 1 for ubuntu and 2 for linux mint. i was able to install ubuntu on a blank hard drive but it would not boot ubuntu, it let me select in boot options but would just go back to the boot menu,
whats wrong? |

You tried mentioned DVD under Windows system running. So you had seen wubi options of Ubuntu and Mint available.
What should be done?
You should start (boot) your computer selecting DVD as a boot medium.
So place DVD into your computer, and turn it off.
Now turn it on and choose DVD reader as a boot device. (Do not let Windows system to start.)
You may need to change boot devices order in BIOS settings of your computer. |
